A Mescalero Apache Tribe member landed himself in hot water after a brutal takedown of a Bureau of Indian Affairs officer on the reservation.
On May 29, 2025, Dominic James Isaac Sandoval Peralta, 24, got physical with a uniformed officer responding to a call at a Mescalero Apache Reservation residence.
When the officer tried to cuff Peralta, he instead threw down, striking the cop multiple times in the head and causing injuries.
The officer deployed a Taser to subdue Peralta and take him into custody. Even after being handcuffed, Peralta continued to resist and refused to enter the patrol vehicle.
