Ricardo Gutierrez-Castillo, Eric Luviano-Cabrera, and Heleodoro Luviano-Castillo were involved in a methamphetamine conspiracy in Omaha, Nebraska, where they rented an Airbnb to manufacture and distribute the drug. On January 2, 2025, the Omaha Police Department received a tip from the Airbnb owner about suspicious activity, including large pots and pans, and bags of salt being brought into the rental. The next day, investigators stopped a vehicle driven by Gutierrez-Castillo and found 33 kilograms of pure methamphetamine. The suspects were arrested and later sentenced to 168 months in prison.
The investigation led to a search warrant on the Airbnb, where a makeshift laboratory was found, along with an additional 15 kilograms of pure methamphetamine. The lab was intended to separate methamphetamine from other compounds. The Omaha Police Department’s efforts disrupted the flow of the hazardous substance into Nebraska from Mexico.
The sentences were handed down by United States District Judge Brian C. Buescher, with all three defendants receiving 168 months of imprisonment, followed by a five-year term of supervised release. United States Attorney Lesley A. Woods commended the Omaha Police Department for dismantling the criminal organization and disrupting the methamphetamine supply.
