Rininski Edwards, a 33-year-old from Bunkie, Louisiana, is accused of possessing 500 grams or more of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute, as well as a loaded .45 caliber pistol, on March 31, 2026. Edwards, a convicted felon with three prior convictions for drug trafficking or violent felonies, faces decades in prison if convicted. The investigation was led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Louisiana State Police. The case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative to combat illegal activities.
Edwards is charged with Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon as an Armed Career Criminal, and Possession of a Firearm in Furtherance of a Drug-Trafficking Crime. If convicted of all charges, Edwards faces mandatory minimum sentences in federal prison.
The United States Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Louisiana announced the indictment, with U.S. Attorney Zachary A. Keller stating that the office will aggressively pursue and prosecute offenders like Edwards to keep communities safe.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney E. Ashley Hammons with assistance from Paralegal Specialist Denise Duhon. An indictment is merely an allegation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
