Meth Kingpin Pleads Guilty in Sioux City Court
A 47-year-old man from Fort Dodge, Iowa, has pleaded guilty to methamphetamine trafficking and firearm offenses in federal court. Carl Douglas Lambert Jr. admitted to conspiring to distribute over three pounds of pure methamphetamine in the Fort Dodge area between January 2017 and December 2017.
Lambert Jr. and his accomplices distributed the methamphetamine to other individuals, according to court records. On November 4, 2017, Lambert Jr. was found in possession of a .22 caliber pistol and over 46 grams of methamphetamine. The firearm was discovered in his waistband.
The Fort Dodge Police Department, Webster County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, and Iowa Department of Criminalistics Laboratory all contributed to the investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Shawn S. Wehde is handling the case.
Lambert Jr. faces a minimum of 10 years in prison for the methamphetamine conviction and an additional 5 years for the firearm conviction. He could also receive a maximum sentence of life imprisonment, a $15,250,000 fine, and up to life of supervised release.
The case is set to be sentenced before United States District Court Chief Judge Leonard T. Strand after a presentence report is prepared. Lambert Jr. remains in the custody of the United States Marshal pending sentencing.

This is not the first time the Fort Dodge area has seen methamphetamine-related crimes. Law enforcement officials continue to crack down on the illicit drug trade in the region.
