Daniel Garibay-Barriga, an illegal alien from Mexico, and Craig Allen Wallace, a 50-year-old from Tyler, Texas, were involved in a massive methamphetamine trafficking operation. On January 28, 2025, investigators executed a search warrant at Wallace’s residence on FM 724 in Tyler, uncovering a clandestine meth lab with 44.71 liters of liquid meth and 9.57 kilograms of crystallized meth. The bust also yielded nine firearms and various other drugs, including powder cocaine, crack cocaine, and marijuana.
The meth lab was discovered as part of a drug trafficking investigation, with officers finding two outbuildings containing equipment and chemicals used to manufacture meth. An RV on the property was also being used as a makeshift drugstore, stocked with meth and other substances.
Garibay-Barriga and Wallace pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. On July 21, 2026, they were sentenced to federal prison, with Garibay-Barriga receiving 168 months and Wallace receiving 165 months. The case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative targeting transnational criminal organizations and protecting communities from violent crime.
The investigation was led by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, with assistance from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Gregg County Sheriff’s Office, and Smith County Sheriff’s Office. The sentences handed down to Garibay-Barriga and Wallace reflect the severity of their crimes and the ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the Eastern District of Texas.
