GRIMY TIMES: A Mexican national, Teodoro Rodriguez-Alvarez, 34, has been slammed with federal charges for illegal possession of a firearm in Gulf Breeze. The U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Florida, John P. Heekin, announced the charges.
On July 15, 2025, the Gulf Breeze Police Department raced to the Pensacola Bay Bridge where they found Rodriguez-Alvarez’s pickup truck stranded in an emergency lane. The driver, who was unconscious, turned out to be Rodriguez-Alvarez. He faced arrest for driving under the influence and illegal possession of a firearm.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations led the investigation with support from local law enforcement. Assistant United States Attorney Jeffrey M. Tharp is now prosecuting the case.
This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a Department of Justice initiative aimed at tackling illegal immigration, dismantling cartels, transnational criminal organizations, and safeguarding communities against violent crime. The operation leverages resources from various task forces and projects under the Department’s jurisdiction.
