WILLIAMSPORT, PA – In a gritty display of federal law enforcement’s commitment to curbing illegal immigration, Edelicio Castillo-Ramos, a 33-year-old citizen of Mexico, has been indicted for illegal reentry into the United States. The Middle District of Pennsylvania’s U.S. Attorney’s Office announced yesterday that Castillo-Ramos, who resides in Mill Hall, PA, faces serious federal charges after being spotted without legal permission in Clinton County on June 20, 2025.
Acting U.S. Attorney John C. Gurganus detailed the allegations against Castillo-Ramos, stating that he was previously booted out of the country on July 12, 2012, through Calexico, California. Despite this, he managed to reenter the United States without proper legal authorization.
This case has been meticulously investigated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Removal Operations. Assistant U.S. Attorney Robin Zenzinger is leading the prosecution of Castillo-Ramos, whose charges underscore the Department of Justice’s Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative aimed at repelling illegal immigration, eliminating cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and safeguarding communities from violent crime.
The operation, which involves coordinated efforts from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN), is designed to streamline resources and combat illegal immigration effectively. Castillo-Ramos now faces a maximum penalty of two years in prison, a fine, and supervised release following his imprisonment.
Despite the serious charges, it is important to remember that all individuals charged by indictment are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
The grim tale of Edelicio Castillo-Ramos serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing battle against illegal immigration and the relentless efforts of federal law enforcement to protect American citizens.
