Edi Quinones, CSAM Transport, Texas 2024

McALLEN, Texas – A harrowing tale of exploitation has culminated in a 96-month sentence for Edi Quinones, a Mexican national found guilty of transporting child sexual abuse material (CSAM) across the United States.

In a dramatic twist, Quinones attempted to enter the U.S. with his ‘wife,’ aged just 16, on September 11, 2024. His claim that they were legally married in Mexico was swiftly debunked by the court, which found no legal standing to their union due to her age.

Despite his admission of a sexual act with the minor victim while she was under his control, Quinones pleaded guilty on November 8, 2024. His sentence was enhanced after child pornography was discovered on his phone, depicting him and the minor victims engaged in illegal sexual acts.

Quinones is now set to register as a sex offender and face removal proceedings upon completing his federal prison term. The investigation was conducted by Immigration and Customs Enforcement – Homeland Security Investigations and Customs and Border Protection, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Devin V. Walker leading the prosecution under Project Safe Childhood (PSC), the DOJ’s nationwide initiative against child sexual exploitation.

Quinones’ case serves as a stark reminder of the relentless efforts by federal authorities to combat the epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse, ensuring justice for the vulnerable victims who are at the heart of these despicable crimes.
