A 47-year-old Mexican national, Julio Cesar Moreno, is headed to prison for his 8th time after reentering the US without permission. On September 15, 2025, Moreno was pulled over in Britt, Iowa, for speeding and driving without a valid license.
While in custody, authorities discovered Moreno’s immigration status and his long history with the US justice system. Moreno had been removed from the country a staggering eight times prior, with convictions for four aggravated felony offenses and two counts of felony deadly conduct in 2005.
On November 24, 2025, Moreno pleaded guilty to one count of illegal reentry as a felon. On April 9, 2026, he was sentenced to 54 months in federal prison, with a three-year term of supervised release to follow.
