RALEIGH, N.C. — A triple whammy of justice has been dished out to three Mexican nationals who returned to the United States after being deported multiple times. Ezequiel Andres-Antonio, 42, was handed a 12-month sentence for his brazen illegal reentry following an aggravated felony conviction for cocaine possession with intent to sell or deliver.
Andres-Antonio’s crime spree continued when he pled guilty on March 14, 2025, to the charge of illegally reentering the U.S. after removal, according to case number 5:24-cr-00269-FL.
Edward Nunez, 45, wasn’t far behind with a stiffer sentence of 19 months for his third illegal attempt at entering the country after being removed thrice before. Nunez’s rap sheet includes felony convictions for conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon and illegal reentry, as well as more recent convictions for possession of cocaine and methamphetamine. He entered a guilty plea on February 3, 2025, under case number 7:25-cr-00011-FL.
Martin Reyes-Hernandez, 37, rounded out the trio with a 13-month sentence for his fifth illegal entry into the U.S. following convictions for larceny-related offenses and an assault with a deadly weapon charge. He pled guilty on April 4, 2025, under case number 5:25-cr-00041-FL.
Acting U.S. Attorney Daniel P. Bubar announced the sentencing by U.S. District Judge Louise W. Flanagan. The investigation was led by ICE, with the National Security Section of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of North Carolina prosecuting these cases.
