A Texas man will spend the next 25 years behind bars for threatening a federal judge and a federal law enforcement officer, the Department of Justice announced.
Michael Buck, 37, of Missouri, will serve 300 months in federal prison for willfully threatening a federal judge and a federal law enforcement officer and their families.
According to court documents, Buck, a multi-convicted felon, used multiple means to threaten the victims, including phone calls and handwritten letters.
The threats were taken seriously by authorities, who quickly launched an investigation into Buck’s actions.
It is unclear what motivated Buck to make the threats, but prosecutors say his actions put the lives of the victims and their families in danger.
Buck will also be required to pay a $100 special assessment and register as a felon upon his release from prison.
U.S. District Judge [Judge’s Name] handed down the sentence in a federal court in Texas.
The case was investigated by the U.S. Marshals Service and the FBI, with the assistance of the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
