BUFFALO, N.Y. – In a shocking turn of events, a Jamestown man has been sentenced to serve 78 months in prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Angelo Pollino, 35, was convicted of the crime in a federal court and was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara.
According to prosecutors, Pollino was prohibited from possessing a firearm due to a previous conviction in Chautauqua County Court for Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Fourth Degree and Burglary in the Third Degree in January 2012. He was sentenced to serve one to three years in prison at the time.
However, Pollino chose to ignore the law and continued to engage in illicit activities. On January 24, 2019, he and two other men broke into and burglarized a home in the Town of Ellicott, NY.
The three men made off with a .380 caliber pistol, a .38 caliber revolver, a Glock pistol, and various bank and credit cards of the victim. The following day, the three men utilized the victim’s bank and credit cards at various locations in New York and Pennsylvania.
Pollino then traded the pistol and revolver for heroin, further adding to his list of crimes.
The sentencing is the result of an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Jamestown Police Department, and the Ellicott Police Department.
