A disturbing case of child pornography has come to light in Baldwin County, Alabama. Michael Daniel Kirk, a 56-year-old man from Lake Mary, Florida, and Jennifer Weekley, a 38-year-old woman from Bay Minette, Alabama, were sentenced to 30 years in prison after pleading guilty to two counts of producing child pornography.
The investigation began after a concerned citizen reported to the Bay Minette Police that they had found images on a woman’s phone of her engaging in sexually explicit conduct with a six-year-old and a three-year-old. The citizen’s report led investigators to discover that Weekley had met Kirk on a dating website, PlentyofFish.com. The two began a sexual relationship until Kirk moved to Sanford, Florida.
Kirk then instructed Weekley to perform sexual acts on the young children and photograph them. Weekley then transmitted the images of sexual abuse to Kirk. The investigation revealed the extent of the heinous crimes committed by the duo.
At sentencing, the government argued that the defendants had caused serious harm to these young children and recommended a sentence of 30 years. Judge Kristi DuBose agreed, finding that the nature and seriousness of the crimes warranted a high sentence. She ordered that Kirk and Weekley each be imprisoned for 30 years.
Following their release from prison, Kirk and Weekley will each be supervised by the United States Probation Office for 25 years and will be required to register as sex offenders. The case was investigated by the Bay Minette Police, the Baldwin County District Attorney’s Office, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
