Bucket List Bandit Pleads Guilty to 11 Bank Robberies
In a shocking turn of events, Michael Eugene Brewster, a 54-year-old former resident of Pensacola, Fla., has pleaded guilty to robbing 11 banks in 10 states. Brewster, also known as the ‘Bucket List Bandit,’ faces a lengthy prison sentence for his crimes.
Brewster pleaded guilty to 11 counts of bank robbery in federal court in Erie, Pa., before United States District Judge Sean J. McLaughlin. The bank robberies took place between June 21, 2012, and Sept. 10, 2012, and occurred in: Arvada, Colo.; Flagstaff, Ariz.; Pocatello, Idaho; Roy, Utah; Winston-Salem, N.C.; Altamonte Springs, Fla.; Chattanooga, Tenn.; Bloomington, Ill.; Colombia, Mo.; and O’Fallon, Mo.
According to the indictment, Brewster used a similar method of operation for each robbery, entering each bank without disguise, wearing similar clothes, carrying a dark leather notebook, and presenting demand notes containing threatening language to the victim tellers. He would then leave the scene driving a 2009 black SUV, which he had stolen in Pensacola, Fla.
In his last bank robbery in Erie, Penn., on Sept. 10, 2012, Brewster entered the Huntington National Bank, located at 2185 West 12th Street, and presented a demand note, claiming that he had a gun and that the teller had one minute to comply. Brewster obtained bank proceeds and fled the area in a black SUV.
Brewster’s identity was confirmed through a tip from a witness and a review of his Florida driver’s license. The FBI and law enforcement partners in the jurisdictions of the other 10 bank robberies confirmed his identity in those cases as well.
Brewster faces a lengthy prison sentence for his crimes. The exact sentence will be determined at a later date.
