A devastating case of gun crime has shaken the streets of Iowa City, Iowa. Michael Germaine McClinton, 26, was sentenced to a whopping 110 months in prison for Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
The Johnson County Drug Task Force worked tirelessly to take down McClinton, who was caught during a traffic stop. McClinton admitted to purchasing a stolen firearm, and a search of his phone revealed videos of him handling guns as far back as November 2019.
McClinton’s troubles began when he was found to be distributing marijuana and edibles containing THC in the Iowa City area. His past conviction for a violent crime in state court should have served as a warning, but McClinton continued down a path of lawlessness.
On June 2, 2022, McClinton pleaded guilty to the charge. United States Attorney Richard D. Westphal of the Southern District of Iowa made the announcement.
The sentence was handed down on October 25, 2022. McClinton will serve three years of supervised release following his imprisonment. The community is breathing a sigh of relief now that justice has been served.
