A 27-year-old inmate at the Federal Correctional Institution in Loretto, Pennsylvania, has been charged with attempting to obtain contraband in prison.
According to an indictment presented to the court, Michael Jackson attempted to obtain a quantity of Suboxone on October 12, 2016.
The indictment was brought by a federal grand jury in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, and announced by Acting United States Attorney Soo C. Song.
The law provides for a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a fine of $250,000 or both for this offense.
Assistant United States Attorney Stephanie L. Haines is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.
The investigation leading to the prosecution of Jackson was conducted by the Laurel Highlands Resident Agency of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Correctional Institution, Special Investigative Staff.
An indictment is an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
