Council Bluffs Man Sentenced to 168 Months in Prison for Methamphetamine Conspiracy
Council Bluffs, IA – On August 3, 2016, Jaime Castillo Gomez, 39, of Mexico City, Mexico, was sentenced to 168 months in prison for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine. This comes after an investigation by law enforcement into methamphetamine trafficking in the Omaha-Council Bluffs metro area.
According to court documents, Castillo Gomez conspired with multiple individuals to distribute at least 1.5 kilograms of methamphetamine in the Southern District of Iowa and elsewhere. This conspiracy occurred from at least November 2014 to September 2015.
The investigation into Castillo Gomez was led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Greater Omaha Safe Streets Task Force and the Southwest Iowa Narcotics Enforcement Task Force. The case was prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa.
