Muskogee, Oklahoma – Bryan County resident Michael Paul Puentes, 50, pleaded guilty to a federal drug charge, punishable by up to 40 years in prison and a $5,000,000 fine.
The charge, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, was brought against Puentes, a resident of Durant, Oklahoma, following an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Durant Police Department.
The indictment alleged that on July 4, 2023, Puentes knowingly and intentionally possessed 50 grams or more of methamphetamine, a Schedule II controlled substance, intending to distribute it.
A U.S. Magistrate Judge, The Honorable Jason A. Robertson, accepted the plea and ordered the completion of a presentence investigation report.
Puentes will remain in the custody of the United States Marshals Service pending sentencing.
A U.S. District Court Judge will determine the sentence to be imposed after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.
