GREATER BIRMINGHAM, ALA. — Brian Deshon Miller has been handed a 120-month sentence after pleading guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine in the Southern District of Alabama.

The acting U.S. Attorney Steve Butler announced the sentence today, noting that Miller’s guilty plea was entered in January 2017. Miller’s criminal activities spanned from November 2015 to July 2016, during which he regularly arranged for the purchase, distribution, and payment of cocaine, selling quantities ranging from grams to ounces.

Miller admitted to being responsible for distributing between 400 and 500 grams of cocaine. His career offender status, as per the United States Sentencing Guidelines, led to an increased sentencing guideline range. The charge is a violation of Title 21, Section 846 of the U.S. Code.

The sentence includes a three-year term of supervised release following Miller’s imprisonment. This case stemmed from a long-term investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Safe Streets Task Force and the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office Drug Task Force in the Daphne/Fairhope area, which has already resulted in the indictment of six other defendants on federal drug conspiracy charges.

Acting U.S. Attorney Steve Butler praised the collaborative efforts of law enforcement partners, stating, “We share a common purpose of striving to make our communities safer for all citizens.” FBI Special Agent in Charge Robert Lasky echoed these sentiments, highlighting the success of interagency cooperation in combating drug-related activities.

This prosecution was handled by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Alabama. Miller’s sentence sends a stark message to those involved in organized crime and drug trafficking in the region.
