Milson Reyes-Alvarez, Honduran Man, Sentenced for Illegal Reentry

CONCORD, NEW HAMPSHIRE – In a shocking turn of events, Milson Reyes-Alvarez, a Honduran man, was sentenced to time already served since his arrest on February 10, 2016 for illegally reentering the United States after having been previously deported.

According to court documents, Reyes-Alvarez pleaded guilty to illegally reentering the United States after having been previously deported. This sentence was handed down the same day under a program used by the United States Attorney’s Office to quickly sentence and deport defendants found in New Hampshire after having been previously deported.

Reyes-Alvarez’s case began in December of 2015, when a Deportation Officer developed information indicating that he was present in the United States after having been deported on one previous occasion. To confirm this information, the Deportation Officer interviewed Reyes-Alvarez on February 10, 2016. The defendant confirmed his true name and that he was illegally present in the United States without any immigration documents.

Reyes-Alvarez was then taken into ICE custody, and a subsequent fingerprint comparison definitively identified him as having been previously deported.

The case was investigated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Alfred Rubega.

Reyes-Alvarez, a Honduran national, was sentenced to time already served since his arrest. This sentence is a significant blow to those who would seek to reenter the United States illegally.

As this case demonstrates, the United States Attorney’s Office is committed to keeping our communities safe by aggressively prosecuting those who seek to break our immigration laws.
