GRIMY TIMES EXCLUSIVE – Oxford, MS – The grimy streets of Mississippi have been hit with a drug crackdown that’s leaving ten alleged kingpins behind bars and one on the lam. In a sweeping FBI-led Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) operation code-named Summer Heat, authorities nabbed ten local Mississippi men for their alleged roles in a fentanyl and methamphetamine conspiracy, as well as related money laundering.
According to court documents, Terrance Rush, Gary Wraggs, Tilnorris Macon, Tonnee Holmes, Tyler Tanksley, Darnell Stone, Harvey Savior, Marcus Metts, and Austin Snow face charges of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and fentanyl. Nine were apprehended in Winston County, MS, while one was taken into custody in Minnesota. The FBI is hot on the heels of Quinton McWilliams, 41, from Louisville, MS, who remains at large.
But this isn’t just a drug bust – three individuals are also charged with violating federal firearm laws. Several of these suspects have prior serious drug or violent felony convictions, and their fate lies in the hands of a federal district court judge who will determine sentences based on U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.
The Summer Heat initiative is part of the FBI’s nationwide offensive against violent crime during the summer months. The agency has been executing federal warrants on violent criminals and fugitives, dismantling gangs, and restoring safety in communities across the country.
U.S. Attorney Clay Joyner and the FBI made the announcement, with invaluable assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service, Winston County Sheriff’s Office, and Louisville Police Department. The Starkville Police Department, ATF, Bureau of Indian Affairs, and U.S. Postal Inspection Service have also played key roles in this operation.
