Pittsburgh Man Gets 10-Year Prison Sentence for Heroin Trafficking
A Pittsburgh-area resident has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for violating federal narcotics and firearms laws. Montay King, also known as Tay Loc, pleaded guilty to four counts before United States District Judge David S. Cercone.
King, 39, was found in possession of 1,500 stamp bags of heroin weighing 37 grams, 171 grams of cocaine, and five grams of crack cocaine on December 20, 2012. At the time, he was also in possession of two assault rifles and a handgun, which were found inside his 1998 Ford Expedition parked outside his residence following searches by the Allegheny County Probation Office and the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office.
The investigation was led by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Allegheny County Adult Probation Office, and the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Task Force. U.S. Attorney David J. Hickton commended the agencies for their work in prosecuting King.
Assistant United States Attorney Charles A. Eberle prosecuted the case on behalf of the government as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a collaborative effort by federal, state and local law enforcement agencies to prevent, deter and prosecute gun crime.
King was sentenced to 10 years in prison followed by three years of supervised release. The sentence marks a significant blow to the heroin trafficking ring in the Pittsburgh area.
The case serves as a reminder of the importance of law enforcement agencies working together to combat gun crime and heroin trafficking in our communities.
