Jose Augustin Salmeron-Larios, Racketeering Conspiracy, Maryland 2017

GREENBELT, MD – In a major blow to the notorious MS-13 gang, six alleged members have been hit with federal indictments for their involvement in a violent racketeering conspiracy. Jose Augustin Salmeron-Larios, known as Joseph Morales-Martinez, Yankee, and Kean, along with five others, were charged on March 27, 2017.

Salmeron-Larios, 24, of Severn, Maryland, is among the accused, alleged to be a member of the PVLS clique and a leader within MS-13. His associates include Noe Coreas-Mejia, known as Tsunami, age 20, from Langley Park; Oscar Ernesto Delgado-Perez, alias Indio and Complicado, 28, of Gaithersburg; Juan Carlos Espinal-Rapalo, a/k/a Chiki, 19, also from Gaithersburg; Daniel Adonai Ramos-Romero, known as Taylor Romero and Binga, age 20; and Kevin Henriquez-Chavez, alias Loco and Crazy, 22, of Washington Grove.

MS-13, a transnational gang with roots in El Salvador, has been active in Prince George’s and Montgomery counties. The group is known for its ruthless tactics, including the motto ‘Mata, roba, viola, controlla’ – kill, steal, rape, control.

The indictment, which spans 11 counts, alleges that the defendants, along with other MS-13 members, planned and committed murders, attempted murders, and extorted business persons. They also arranged for the purchase and circulation of weapons for criminal activity and profited from drug distribution.

United States Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein, Special Agent Andre R. Watson of ICE HSI, Montgomery County Police Chief Thomas Manger, Prince George’s County Police Chief Hank Stawinski, State’s Attorneys Angela D. Alsobrooks and John McCarthy were among those who announced the charges.
