Brian A. Mudd, 59, of Ruma, has been charged with a serious methamphetamine offense, according to an announcement made by United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, Donald S. Boyce.
The charge, which was filed on April 4, 2017, alleges that Mudd was involved in a conspiracy to distribute more than 50 grams of methamphetamine. This offense is said to have occurred between June 2016 and December 8, 2017, in Randolph County.
Mudd made his initial appearance in federal court on April 10, 2017, and was ordered held without bond pending an April 13, 2017, detention hearing. The indictment against Mudd is a formal charge, and under the law, he is presumed to be innocent until proved guilty beyond a reasonable doubt to the satisfaction of a jury.
