MUSKOGEE, OKLAHOMA – In a chilling revelation from the Eastern District of Oklahoma, James Dean Bledsoe, 32, of Muldrow, was sentenced to 36 months in prison for three counts of Child Abuse within Indian Country.
Bledsoe’s reign of terror targeted three children under his care, with the heinous crimes occurring between January 1, 2024, and September 24, 2024, on the Sequoyah County Reservation, a part of the Cherokee Nation.
The investigation was a joint effort by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Muldrow Police Department. On March 12, 2025, Bledsoe pleaded guilty to the charges that left children unable to breathe due to face covering and restraints. The abuser also subjected his victims to extreme punishment, including cold water spraying and food deprivation.
Presiding over the hearing was Honorable Ronald A. White of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. Bledsoe will serve his non-paroleable sentence under the watchful eye of the U.S. Marshals Service before being transported to a federal prison facility.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Emily Wittlinger represented the United States in this harrowing case, ensuring justice was served for the innocent victims. The sentence handed down today is a stark reminder of the severity of child abuse and the commitment of law enforcement to protect our youth.
