Munhall Man Charged With Assaulting FBI Agent
A Munhall man is behind bars after being charged with assaulting an FBI task force officer, officials announced today.
Kim Winwood, 61, was indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on a charge of violating federal law, United States Attorney David J. Hickton said.
According to the indictment, on or about March 14, 2013, Winwood assaulted, resisted, and impeded certain officers or employees of the United States during the performance of their official duties, and he caused bodily injury to the Federal Bureau of Investigation Task Force Officer.
The law provides for a maximum total sentence of 20 years in prison, a fine of $250,000, or both. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offense and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.
Assistant United States Attorney Eric S. Rosen is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation Greater Pittsburgh Safe Streets Gang Task Force, Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office, Munhall Police Department, West Homestead Police Department and Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General conducted the investigation leading to the indictment in this case.
An indictment is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
