JERSEY CITY, NJ – A chilling portrait of street-level brutality emerged today with the federal indictment of eleven members and associates of a violent gang operating out of the Marion Gardens Housing Complex. The group is accused of a reign of terror spanning years, culminating in three separate murders and a lucrative drug trafficking operation. The charges, unsealed in Newark, NJ, paint a picture of calculated violence and cold-blooded ambition.
The indictment names Myron Williams, aka “Money,” aka “Tunchi,” 30, of Newark; Khalil Kelley, aka “Billski,” 24, of Jersey City; Herbert Thomas, 48, of Jersey City; Roger Pickett, aka “Zy Gz,” 23, of Jersey City; Andre Alomar, aka “Dre8,” 22, of Newark; Anthony Rogers, aka “MG,” 23, of Jersey City; Naim Richardson, aka “Ninicks,” 30, of Jersey City; Quaseame Wilson, aka “Qua Gz,” 27, of Jersey City; Javon Williams, aka “J45,” 26, of Jersey City; Jawaad Davis, 21, of Jersey City; and Keith Anderson, aka “Beef3,” 21, of Jersey City. All are facing racketeering and drug conspiracy charges, with the potential for lengthy prison sentences if convicted.
Federal prosecutors detailed a particularly gruesome murder on March 29, 2021. Kelley and Alomar allegedly lured a rival gang member into a deadly ambush using fake Instagram messages, posing as one of his own. When the victim opened his door, he was met with a hail of gunfire from Kelley, suffering multiple chest wounds and dying at the scene. Pickett and an unnamed accomplice allegedly provided a getaway car, abandoning the vehicle in Newark after the shooting. This was just the opening act in a series of escalating acts of violence.
The indictment further alleges that on November 20, 2021, Myron Williams and Pickett employed the same deceptive tactic – fake Instagram messages – to lure another rival outside. When the victim opened his door, he was immediately shot by Myron Williams and an associate. The callousness of the attacks is striking, highlighting a disregard for human life that defines the gang’s alleged operations. The third murder, on November 21, 2022, involved a botched narcotics deal. Davis allegedly coordinated a drug transaction with the victim, but instead orchestrated a robbery. When the victim resisted, Pickett allegedly opened fire, killing him while Wilson held the victim and his associate at gunpoint.
“The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office is committed to utilizing all resources necessary to curb violent crime within our jurisdiction,” stated Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, a standard refrain but one that rings hollow without concrete results. Bryan Miller, Special Agent in Charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), echoed the sentiment, stating, “Acts of gang violence are a grim reminder… investigating and combatting violent crime is a top priority.” The ATF’s involvement underscores the seriousness of the charges and the potential for further escalation.
While law enforcement officials tout collaborative efforts, the indictment serves as a stark reminder of the pervasive violence that continues to plague certain communities.
