Nampa Man Sentenced to 84 Months for Methamphetamine and Gun Crimes
BOISE – A Nampa man has been sentenced to 84 months in prison for his involvement in a methamphetamine trafficking operation and for unlawfully possessing firearms.
José Enrique Olvera Jr., 51, was sentenced by Senior U.S. District Judge Edward J. Lodge on the charges of possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute and unlawfully possessing a firearm. Olvera will also serve four years of supervised release following his release from prison.
Olvera pleaded guilty to the charges on November 3, 2015. According to court documents, law enforcement agents executed a search warrant at Olvera’s residence on June 18, 2014, and found evidence of his involvement in the methamphetamine trafficking operation.
Agents discovered methamphetamine, scales, packaging material, drug ledgers, $2,767, seven firearms, and ammunition during the search. The firearms included a 20 gauge sawed-off shotgun with an obliterated serial number, other shotguns, rifles, and a handgun. Olvera was prohibited from possessing the firearms because he was previously convicted of the felony crime of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver in 2003.
Olvera’s case is part of a larger investigation into the ‘Norteno’ Northside gang, which is active in Nampa and other parts of the Treasure Valley. The Treasure Valley Metro Violent Crime Task Force, a joint effort between federal, state, and local agencies, led the investigation. The task force includes the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Boise Police Department, and other agencies.
Olvera is the latest defendant to be sentenced in connection with the investigation. Other defendants have received sentences ranging from 24 to 110 months in prison. The cases are the result of a joint investigation by the Treasure Valley Metro Violent Crime Task Force and the Organized Crime and Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF).
Olvera was found to be a gang member by law enforcement agents during the course of their investigation. His sentencing marks the culmination of a lengthy investigation into the ‘Norteno’ Northside gang. The Treasure Valley Metro Violent Crime Task Force will continue to work to disrupt and dismantle the gang’s operations in the region.
Other defendants sentenced in connection with the investigation include:
- Guadalupe Serrano, 35, of Caldwell, sentenced to 75 months in prison for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and for possessing firearms in furtherance of the drug trafficking crime.
- Nicole Danelle Nieto, 31, of Nampa, sentenced to 41 months in prison for distributing methamphetamine.
- José Manuel Menchaca, 35, of Nampa, sentenced to 60 months in prison for distributing methamphetamine.
- Brandi Larrea, 31, of Nampa, sentenced to 48 months in prison for distributing methamphetamine.
- Tara Noelle Rivera, 30, of Nampa, sentenced to 24 months in prison for distributing methamphetamine.
- Johnny Lee Martinez, 33, of Nampa, sentenced to 57 months in prison for distributing methamphetamine.
- Michael David Bradshaw, 31, of Nampa, sentenced to 66 months in prison for distributing methamphetamine.
- Kenny P. Breedlove, 35, of Porterville, California, sentenced to 110 months for possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute.
- Guillermo Farias Jr., 29, of Nampa, sentenced to time served and three years of supervised release for his role in assisting with methamphetamine distribution.
- Richard Lobato, 51, of Nampa, sentenced to 60 months for distribution of methamphetamine.
The investigation into the ‘Norteno’ Northside gang is ongoing, and further arrests and convictions are expected.
