SCRANTON, PA – Daniyel Jamal Heyward, 45, of West Nanticoke, Pennsylvania, is facing serious federal charges after being indicted by a grand jury on drug trafficking offenses, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced today. The indictment alleges Heyward was actively involved in a cocaine distribution network operating in the region.
According to Acting United States Attorney John C. Gurganus, Heyward is charged with possession with the intent to distribute cocaine on February 13, 2025. The indictment further alleges a conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute the same illicit substance between January 1, 2025, and February 13, 2025 – indicating a sustained effort to flood the streets with dangerous narcotics.
The investigation, a joint effort between the Luzerne County Drug Task Force and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), has been ongoing for months.
