Former Nashua, New Hampshire, resident Wilfredo Tanon Rodriguez, 54, has been sentenced to 30 months in federal prison for conspiring to distribute over a quarter kilogram of cocaine.
The sentence was announced by Acting United States Attorney John J. Farley, who detailed how on July 1, 2016, Nashua police officers were dispatched to an apartment complex following a tip about drug dealing activities. Rodriguez, riding as a front passenger, consented to a police inspection of a bag containing approximately 279 grams of cocaine.
According to court documents, Rodriguez admitted to delivering the drugs at the time of his arrest and had previously engaged in similar transactions. Authorities also discovered two firearms in a car linked to Rodriguez, parked within the apartment complex under surveillance.
Following his release from prison, Rodriguez will be required to serve three years of supervised release. His co-conspirator, Luis D. Capo-Nieves, who drove the car, is scheduled for sentencing on June 12, 2017.
The investigation was conducted by the Nashua Police Department with assistance from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). Assistant United States Attorney Bill Morse prosecuted the case.
