Justice Officials to Attend National Night Out Events Across US
In a move to strengthen community ties, Attorney General Merrick B. Garland, Deputy Attorney General Lisa O. Monaco, and Associate Attorney General Vanita Gupta will join local law enforcement officials at National Night Out events across the country.
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that fosters police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to create safer communities. The program, established in 1984, aims to build relationships between communities and law enforcement, and promote a sense of community among neighbors and law enforcement.
Deputy Attorney General Monaco will attend events in Nashville, Tennessee, where she will be joined by U.S. Attorney Henry Leventis for the Middle District of Tennessee and Chief of Police John Drake of the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department. The events will take place at the Edgehill Apartments Resident Association and the East Park Community Center.
National Night Out events are taking place across the country, with the main event occurring on the first Tuesday of August. The events aim to bring back a sense of community and neighborhood safety. For more information, visit www.natw.org.
