Heroin Trafficker Sentenced to 70 Months in Prison

HAMMOND, Indiana – In a devastating blow to the heroin trade, a 29-year-old Illinois man was sentenced to 70 months in prison for his role in a heroin distribution conspiracy in the Northern District of Indiana.

Nestor Ochoa, of Berwyn, Illinois, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute heroin and was sentenced by United States District Court Chief Judge Jon E. DeGuilio. The sentence also includes 3 years of supervised release.

According to documents filed in the case, Ochoa conspired with others to distribute ounce quantities of heroin between January 11 and 24, 2019. Over the course of the conspiracy, Ochoa delivered heroin on three separate occasions.

The case took a dark turn in March of 2019, when Ochoa admitted to agreeing to assist others in the delivery of fentanyl.
