Jacksonville Man Sentenced for Methamphetamine Offense

In a significant blow to the local narcotics trade, Kenneth A. Stephenson, 43, of Jacksonville, Illinois, was sentenced to 30 months imprisonment for Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine. The sentence was handed down on January 20, 2016.

Stephenson’s downfall began on February 16, 2015, when he was found in possession of approximately 40 grams of methamphetamine in Venice, Illinois. According to authorities, the methamphetamine had a street value of around $5,000.00.

Stephenson’s guilty plea, entered on September 16, 2015, marked a significant milestone in the case. At his change of plea hearing, Stephenson admitted to possessing the methamphetamine with the intention of selling it. The methamphetamine was recovered from his car by law enforcement.

The investigation into Stephenson’s activities was a collaborative effort between the Illinois State Police Metropolitan Enforcement Group of Southwestern Illinois and the Venice, Illinois Police Department. The probe was conducted under the auspices of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF), a initiative aimed at dismantling large national and international drug trafficking organizations.
