Justin Hall, Prohibited Firearm Possession, Nevada 2024

A federal judge in New York has handed down a sentence to a Nevada felon caught with a arsenal of guns and ammo.

Justin Hall, 43, of Wellington, Nevada, was sentenced to time served (24 months) by U.S. District Judge Lawrence J. Vilardo for being a prohibited person in possession of firearms.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Garrett Fitzsimmons, who handled the case, stated that Hall was arrested in May 2021 in Gardnerville, Nevada, for possessing a firearm. The following year, the FBI in Buffalo received information that Hall was traveling around the Buffalo area.

On May 22, 2022, law enforcement conducted a motor vehicle stop of Hall’s vehicle on Interstate 90 near the Transit Road exit. A search of Hall’s vehicle recovered three firearms, as well as over 1,200 rounds of various caliber ammunition and five magazines.

Hall’s gun possession is a serious offense, given his prior conviction of a misdemeanor crime of Domestic Battery in Nevada in March 2017. As a result, he is legally prohibited from possessing firearms.

The sentencing is the result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Matthew Miraglia. Additional assistance was provided by the Douglas County, Nevada Sheriff’s Office and the Nevada FBI.

The case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of enforcing laws surrounding gun possession, particularly for those with a history of violent behavior. Hall’s sentence may be seen as lenient by some, but it is clear that the justice system is taking steps to address this issue.
