New Haven’s DEVARO TAYLOR, 35, has been handed a severe sentence for his role in the city’s flourishing drug trade. The grim statistic: 28 months behind bars. Taylor, a resident of New Haven, was today sentenced by U.S. District Judge Omar A. Williams for distributing crack cocaine. United States Attorney David X. Sullivan announced the sentence, which also includes three years of supervised release.
According to court documents and statements in court, Taylor’s criminal activities were uncovered during an extensive investigation by the FBI’s New Haven Safe Streets/Gang Task Force and the New Haven Police Department. From September to December 2020, investigators made several controlled purchases of crack cocaine from Taylor, building a solid case against him.
A wiretap on Taylor’s phone revealed extensive drug dealing operations within the city. His arrest on January 26, 2021, yielded significant evidence: approximately 124 grams of cocaine, 226 grams of crack cocaine, and $6,702 in cash were seized from his residence.
Taylor pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute cocaine base on December 7, 2021. Assistant U.S. Attorney Nathaniel J.
