Luis A. Gama, Illegal Re-Entry, Louisiana 2025

New Orleans, Louisiana – The grim streets of New Orleans witnessed a pivotal moment in the battle against illegal immigration as Luis A. Gama, 38, a native of Mexico, pled guilty to re-entry of a removed alien on June 26, 2025.

According to court documents, GAMA was apprehended in Tangipahoa Parish on April 10, 2025, after being deported to Mexico on September 10, 2019. The brazen act of illegal re-entry has placed him in the crosshairs of justice.

Scheduled for July 23, 2025, GAMA’s sentencing hearing will be presided over by United States District Judge Nannette Jolivette Brown. The defendant faces a maximum penalty of two years of imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, up to one year of supervised release, and a mandatory special assessment fee of $100.

This case is a significant part of Operation Take Back America, an aggressive initiative by the Department of Justice aimed at combating illegal immigration, dismantling cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and safeguarding communities from violent crime. The operation leverages resources from OCDETFs and Project Safe Neighborhood.

Acting U.S. Attorney Michael M. Simpson commended Immigration and Customs Enforcement for their diligent work in this investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Paul J. Hubbell, overseeing the prosecution, is leading the charge against GAMA.

The sentence imposed on GAMA will serve as a stern reminder to those who attempt to circumvent the law and return to the United States after being deported.
