New London’s Quadeall Daniels, 32, has been handed a 46-month prison sentence after being convicted of trafficking firearms from Georgia to Connecticut. United States Attorney John H. Durham announced the sentence imposed by U.S. District Judge Michael P. Shea.
Daniels was caught red-handed on July 20, 2017, when police seized two firearms during a search at his New London residence. The guns were part of a larger cache he had transported from Georgia, where he purchased them with cash. Daniels’ former girlfriend was used to legally purchase the weapons in Georgia.
Investigations revealed that Daniels and his girlfriend had bought five more firearms at the same pawn shop in Hinesville, Georgia, in April 2017, selling them for profit in Connecticut. One of these guns was later recovered by New London Police. The whereabouts of the remaining four remain unknown.
Daniels’ previous conviction for attempted assault and illegal firearm possession in 2012 made his interstate gun trafficking a federal offense. He pleaded guilty to one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon on March 11, 2019.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), Connecticut State Police, and the New London Police Department collaborated in investigating this case, which falls under the Project Safe Neighborhoods initiative aimed at reducing violent crime and making neighborhoods safer.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Alina P. Reynolds prosecuted the case, ensuring justice for the community. Daniels faces a future of supervised release following his prison term.
