New Orleans Crew Sentenced for RICO Violations
TRAVIS HUDSON, 29, RODERICK WIGGINS, 22, DANTE CARSON, 21, DWIGHT CARSON, 22, SHAYNE LEBLANC, 40, and AKAI SULLIVAN, 27, were sentenced in a New Orleans courtroom for their roles in a RICO conspiracy and various other crimes.
According to the investigation, the group, known as the Murder Squad, operated in the Harvey area, controlling neighborhoods through violence and threats of violence. The group was responsible for murder, attempted murder, obstruction, and assaults.
TRAVIS HUDSON, a key member of the group, was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment and 5 years of supervised release for his role in the RICO conspiracy and the distribution of cocaine base.
RODERICK WIGGINS, another high-ranking member, received a 14-year prison sentence and 5 years of supervised release for his involvement in the RICO conspiracy, conspiracy to distribute and possess cocaine base, and conspiracy to possess firearms during crimes of violence and drug trafficking offenses.
DANTE CARSON, 21, was sentenced to 30 years imprisonment and 5 years of supervised release for his role in the RICO conspiracy, conspiracy to possess firearms, and aiding and abetting in the unlawful acquisition of a firearm. Carson also admitted to participating in the murder of Reginald Francois on April 1, 2010.
DWIGHT CARSON, 22, received a 20-year prison sentence and 10 years of supervised release for his involvement in the RICO conspiracy, conspiracy to distribute and possess cocaine base, and conspiracy to possess firearms.
SHAYNE LEBLANC, 40, was sentenced to 6 years imprisonment and 3 years of supervised release for his role in the conspiracy to manufacture and possess cocaine base. AKAI SULLIVAN, 27, received 3 years probation and 6 months of home detention for his obstruction of justice charges.
The investigation, led by the FBI, ATF, and the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, targeted the group’s narcotics trafficking and violent activities in the Harvey area.
