New Orleans native Travis Israel Osborne, 23, was sentenced to five years in federal prison for downloading and possessing explicit images of children.
According to the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Kenneth A. Polite announced that U.S. District Judge Eldon E. Fallon imposed a 60-month sentence on Osborne, followed by five years of supervised release.
The investigation began when FBI agents executed a search warrant at Osborne’s residence in April 2013. They recovered one computer and an external digital storage device, which contained approximately 140 images and 37 videos depicting prepubescent children being sexually victimized, starting from 2011.
Osborne used peer-to-peer networks to seek out these materials, according to court documents. The case was part of Project Safe Childhood, a DOJ initiative launched in 2006 to combat the proliferation of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
U.S. Attorney Polite commended the FBI for their thorough investigation, while Assistant United States Attorney Jordan Ginsberg led the prosecution.
