Newman Hooker, 29, found himself on the wrong side of the law after being convicted of a serious crime in New Orleans, Louisiana.
According to court documents, Hooker was a felon in possession of a firearm, a Glock model 22 pistol loaded with an extended magazine, and a loaded Panzer Arms shotgun.
The New Orleans Police Department executed a search warrant at Hooker’s residence on May 30, 2022, and seized the guns, ammunition, and other firearms accessories.
Hooke faces a maximum sentence of 10 years imprisonment, a fine of up to $250,000, up to 3 years of supervised release, and a mandatory special assessment fee of $100.00.
This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program that brings together law enforcement and communities to reduce violent crime and gun violence in neighborhoods.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the New Orleans Police Department, with Assistant United States Attorneys David Berman and Rachal Cassagne handling the prosecution.
Hooke’s guilty plea came on January 19, 2023, before the Honorable Barry W. Ashe, and he will now face the consequences of his actions.
