Nicholas Colon Sentenced to 46 Months for Cocaine Conspiracy, Albany NY, 2024
ALBANY, NEW YORK – A brazen cocaine trafficking operation in the Empire State has been brought to justice, with a Bronx resident being sentenced to 46 months in federal prison for his role in a cocaine conspiracy.
Nicholas Colon, 37, of the Bronx, was handed down the sentence by United States District Judge Glenn T. Suddaby. Colon previously admitted to driving in tandem with Kenny Gonzalez from Long Island to Queens, where they picked up approximately two kilograms of cocaine from their drug supplier. The cocaine was then transported to Ulster County, where they were stopped by law enforcement.
Colon and Gonzalez intended to distribute the cocaine in the Northern District of New York, according to court documents. This was not the first time Colon has been involved in a cocaine trafficking operation. His co-conspirator, Kenny Gonzalez, was previously sentenced to 60 months in prison and a 4-year-term of supervised release by Judge Suddaby.
The case was investigated by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jonathan S. Reiner. United States Attorney Carla B. Freedman and Frank A. Tarentino III, Special Agent in Charge of the DEA, New York Division, announced the sentence.
Colon’s sentence includes a 4-year-term of supervised release following his prison term. The DEA’s efforts to disrupt and dismantle cocaine trafficking operations in the region have been ongoing, with several notable arrests and convictions in recent years.
The Grimy Times has learned that Colon’s sentencing is a significant blow to the local cocaine trafficking network. With Colon and Gonzalez now behind bars, the question remains as to who will fill the void left by their absence.
The case serves as a reminder of the devastating impact of cocaine trafficking on communities across the country. The DEA and U.S. Attorney’s Office will continue to work tirelessly to bring those responsible for these crimes to justice.
