Nicholas Tartaglione, Murder, New York, 2016
A tragic tale of betrayal and terror has come to an end as Nicholas Tartaglione, a former police officer-turned drug dealer, has been found guilty of murdering four innocent men in New York in 2016.
The victims, Martin Luna, Miguel Luna, Urbano Santiago, and Hector Gutierrez, were all loved ones of the Luna family. Martin, a family man, had unknowingly been lured into a deadly trap by Tartaglione, who suspected that Martin had stolen money from him.
A gruesome scene unfolded as Tartaglione tortured Martin, forcing one of his nephews to watch as he strangled Martin to death with a zip-tie. The four victims were then transported to a remote wooded location, forced to kneel, and executed with gunshots to the back of the head. Their bodies were later buried in a mass grave.
Today, a jury has delivered justice, finding Tartaglione guilty of these heinous acts. This verdict sends a strong message that no one is above the law, not even a former police officer.
We commend the career prosecutors and investigators for their relentless pursuit of justice in this case over the past seven years. Their tireless efforts have ensured that Nicholas Tartaglione will face a lifetime in federal prison for his unconscionable murder of four men.
We also extend our deepest gratitude to the victims’ families for trusting law enforcement to find their loved ones and see that justice was done.
Nicholas Tartaglione’s actions represent a betrayal not only of the victims and their families but also of the community he once swore to protect. His conviction serves as a reminder that those who break the law will be held accountable.
