Fentanyl Trafficking Bust in Idaho: Nicole Kettler Sentenced

BOISE – A career drug trafficker has been sentenced to 11 years behind bars for her role in a fentanyl trafficking operation in Idaho.

Nicole Ann Kettler, 41, of Grayling, Michigan, was handed down a 139-month prison sentence for possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, according to Acting U.S. Attorney Justin Whatcott.

Kettler was arrested in May 2024 after a traffic stop in Nampa, Idaho, where officers found a cache of fentanyl pills, powder, and methamphetamine in her vehicle. A canine trained to detect controlled substances had alerted officers to the presence of illicit substances.

During the search of Kettler’s vehicle, police found approximately 4,300 fentanyl pills, more than a half-pound of fentanyl powder, over a quarter-pound of methamphetamine, and a variety of other controlled substances.

Kettler’s arrest was the result of an investigation led by the Idaho State Police, the Oregon State Police, and the High Desert Drug Task Force. The task force, which is a multi-jurisdictional narcotics unit, uses an intelligence-driven approach to identify and dismantle local and international drug trafficking organizations.

Kettler’s sentence also includes five years of supervised release following her prison term. The defendant has a history of conviction for possession with intent to deliver controlled substances, with two prior convictions on her record.

Acting U.S. Attorney Whatcott commended the work of law enforcement agencies involved in the investigation, citing their efforts in disrupting and dismantling local and international drug trafficking operations.
