Seth Jones, Wire Fraud, Pennsylvania 2026

⏱ 2 min read

Seth Jones, a 46-year-old Philadelphia man, pleaded guilty to defrauding two local non-profits out of $322,798. From 2017 to September 2025, Jones worked in the finance department of the parent company of the two non-profits, using his position to carry out the scheme. He used a company credit card to pay for personal expenses and diverted funds from one of the non-profits’ bank accounts to his own accounts.

Jones falsified expense reports, failed to submit reports, and created fake invoices to conceal the fraud. The scheme was uncovered and Jones was charged by information last month. He has waived his right to prosecution by indictment and is scheduled to be sentenced on November 5.

The case was investigated by the FBI and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Francis A. Weber and John G. Iannacone. Jones faces a maximum possible term of 40 years’ imprisonment for the two counts of wire fraud.

The guilty plea is a significant development in the case, which highlights the importance of accountability and transparency in the non-profit sector. The sentence will be determined by the court and will depend on various factors, including the severity of the offense and Jones’ cooperation with the authorities.
