A 25-year-old North Carolina man has been locked up for 15 years for producing child pornography in Middle Pennsylvania, federal authorities announced. Brayan Garcia-Vazquez met a 12-year-old girl on Instagram and repeatedly had sex with her, recording one of the encounters and sharing the video with the girl.
The victim’s mother found the video and contacted police, who used forensic analysis to identify Garcia-Vazquez as the perpetrator. He was arrested and charged with producing child pornography.
According to court documents, Garcia-Vazquez met the girl on Instagram about a year before the abuse began. He would visit her home on two separate occasions, bringing her a gold bracelet during one of the visits. The girl, who was 12 at the time, disclosed the abuse during a forensic interview.
Garcia-Vazquez was sentenced to 180 months in prison by Senior U.S. District Judge Malachy E. Mannion. He will face deportation following the completion of his sentence.
