PENSACOLA, FLORIDA – Justin J. Wright, 35, of Bay Shore, New York, finds himself staring down a federal indictment for his alleged antics in Pensacola. The grimy details surface as Wright is charged with cyberstalking, attempted interstate extortion of a public official, and the use of fire to commit a federal felony offense.
The charges are a direct result of Wright’s alleged criminal acts prior to June 1, 2024. John P. Heekin, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida, unveiled the charges against Wright. The defendant is set to face his fate on September 10, 2025, at 1:30 p.m., when he will appear before United States Magistrate Judge Zachary C. Bolitho.
Should Wright be found guilty on these serious charges, he faces a mandatory minimum of ten years’ imprisonment. The case is being handled with the utmost severity, as it involves not only arson but also cyberstalking, indicating a sophisticated and terrifying level of criminal activity.
This joint investigation has been a massive undertaking, involving the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Pensacola Police Department, and the State of Florida’s Bureau of Fire, Arson, and Explosive Investigations. Assistant United States Attorney David L. Goldberg is leading the prosecution against Wright.
It must be noted that an indictment is merely an accusation by a grand jury and does not prove guilt. Wright, like all defendants, is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a fair trial.
