GRIMY TIMES EXCLUSIVE: Justin J. Wright, 35, of Bay Shore, New York, has been hit with federal charges after being accused of setting fire in Pensacola, Florida.
The 35-year-old is now staring down a federal indictment that includes accusations of cyberstalking, attempted interstate extortion of a public official, and the use of fire to commit a federal felony offense.
According to the Department of Justice, Wright’s alleged antics began leading up to June 1, 2024. The case has been a joint effort between the FBI, Pensacola Police Department, and Florida’s Bureau of Fire, Arson, and Explosive Investigations.
The United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida, John P. Heekin, announced that Wright is scheduled to appear before U.S. Magistrate Judge Zachary C. Bolitho in Pensacola on September 10, 2025. If convicted, Wright could face a mandatory minimum sentence of ten years’ imprisonment.
Assistant United States Attorney David L. Goldberg will be leading the prosecution against Wright. The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida website offers access to public court documents related to the case.
As always, an indictment is merely an accusation and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a fair trial.
