Boston – Felisberto ‘Chee-B’ Lopes, a member of the notorious Cameron Street gang, was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for his involvement in racketeering and drug and firearms trafficking.
Lopes, 40, also faces five years of supervised release following his conviction in federal court. He pleaded guilty to conspiracy to participate in a racketeering enterprise, possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine, and multiple counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.
The sentencing comes after Lopes was named in a multi-count superseding indictment charging him and 21 others with racketeering conspiracy, drug and firearms trafficking, and other offenses. Cameron Street, based largely in Dorchester, is known for its violent tactics to protect its territory and enhance its reputation.
According to the investigation, Lopes distributed firearms and cocaine to a cooperating witness. Law enforcement responded to a shooting at his residence in 2022, where they seized over $25,000, a half kilogram of cocaine, crack cocaine, ammunition, and more. Lopes has previously been convicted of aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
This operation was part of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) Strike Force Initiative, which aims to disrupt and dismantle significant drug traffickers, gangs, and criminal organizations. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Christopher Pohl and Charles Dell’Anno.
U.S. Attorney Leah B. Foley; Scott Riordan of the ATF; Jarod A. Forget of the DEA; and Boston Police Commissioner Michael Cox announced the sentencing today. Additional assistance was provided by various law enforcement agencies.
