OCALA, FL – A severe blow to the Ocala drug trade was delivered when United States District Judge Thomas P. Barber sentenced Johnardo Davis, 42, of Ocala, to 25 years in federal prison for his role in a methamphetamine and cocaine distribution conspiracy. Davis pleaded guilty on April 11, 2025.
Davis’s reign of terror began to unravel last summer when the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) executed controlled buys from him, netting over two kilograms of meth each time. But that was just the beginning. On December 10, 2024, a DEA raid on Davis’s apartment and storage unit uncovered several pounds of marijuana, more than 600 grams of cocaine, and nearly $9,000 in cash – all indicative of a drug empire.
According to court documents, the DEA’s investigation revealed Davis was no lone wolf. His operation was part of a larger organized crime syndicate that targeted the streets of Ocala with dangerous drugs.
This case was a triumph for law enforcement, prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Tyrie K. Boyer and investigated by the DEA. It also highlighted the critical role played by the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF), which identifies, disrupts, and dismantles high-level criminal organizations.
