Oglala Man Indicted For Child Abuse

Norman Yellow Hawk, a 47-year-old man from Oglala, South Dakota, has been indicted by a federal grand jury for allegedly committing heinous crimes against a child under the age of 12 between 2007 and 2010 at Allen, South Dakota.

According to the indictment, Yellow Hawk has been charged with aggravated sexual abuse, assault resulting in serious bodily injury, felony child abuse and neglect, aggravated incest, and witness intimidation. The maximum penalty upon conviction is life imprisonment and a $250,000 fine.

The alleged crimes took place between 2007 and 2010 at Allen, South Dakota. The investigation is being conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Norman Yellow Hawk appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Veronica L. Duffy on May 24, 2013, and pled not guilty to the superseding indictment. A trial date has been set for July 29, 2013. Yellow Hawk was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshal.
